Hey guys,
How can I run a bot(exe) on a VPS and make it a Windows desktop?
I need to run the bot 24/7 and I don't want it to access my files or connection, just in case it's a virus/hack, it's likely not but you can't be too sure.
I also need to see the desktop.
How is this possible, if you can point me to a guide or thread that'll be great.
I'm a huge noob to VPS, I barely know what it means.
I've searched Google but can't come up with a straight forward answer
and I get confused about the "Remote Desktop" part.
Also you can recommend a good VPS service.

Usually most VPS's time-out but you can ask the hosting company to keep the VPS running even when you log off.

I had the same problem with running custom SEO tools 24/7 but the hosting company sorted it for me.

Hope this helps!

Remote Desktop is what the connection to a Windows VPS is called. You would be using a tool (comes with most versions of Windows) called Remote Desktop connection to connect to the VPS. You probably have it installed on your home computer already.

When using Remote Desktop software, make sure that all checkboxes under "Local resources" tab are unchecked. This is to make sure that files (and therefore viruses) can not copy themselves between your local computer and the VPS.

Thanks, what company were you using and was it Windows?

Thanks for responding. I'm still confused on how I will be able to see the Remote Desktop and what internet connection its using. Can I see it through my browser?(I'm using Chrome).

Thanks, one more question, will I use the bot the same way I would on my laptop?
For example, I access the Remote Desktop Connection then open Internet Explorer, download the bot, then use it like a regular program?
Is this correct?
No, you will see it through the program called Remote Desktop Connection.

Yes, it's correct. VPS is just like your laptop but you're accessing it via Remote dekstop.

Thank you. I'm now searching for a VPS on BHW that can run 24/7. I'm looking at HostStage, hopefully that can run 24/7.

Most VPS run 24/7 (ours do). You can have a look at my signature as well if you're interested in more options.

I have 3 host-stage windows VPS machines that run bots 24/7 without any issues. Talk to Vincent, the owner, and he will get you setup and on your way.

Thank you guys! I will take a look at the hosting.
