how to research right for keywords?

hello i have been trying around some good results and others bad results!!
i would like to know out to do the right research for ((single keywords/long tail keywords)) i have read many ebook and most of them diferent, they only way tell you to research for keywords lower than 5000 montly search using "keyword", but when i'm using google tool for that there is many of 5000 "keys" but if i type it on google search box it give diferent results and normaly more than 5000 mthly search!
can i have a clear solution of that!!

For one, make sure you're using exact. And 2ndly, you shouldn't pay attention to what other people say. 5k exact will take you ~3 weeks to rank top 5 for with an exact match domain, if you play your cards right. Just pick whatever you think is best for what your aim is.

Yeah [exact] is what you should be looking at, not broad. I've never run an autoblog, but if you set it up right and do the right SEO, 4-5k exact sounds like a good one to choose.

Always go for exact match searches never bother with phrase or broad match as you might be going after ghost traffic.

Look for keywords with the following:

  • have an Adwords CPC above a dollar
  • have at least 30 searches a day( exact match)
  • have less then 100 k in competition
  • have low strength of competition within the top ten of Google( low PR, not massively back linked, and not really old/established sites)
  • Keywords should be based more on a product or a service and not informative in nature and so the visitor is much more likely to convert into a sale or lead and take some kind of action on your site

first you need to know what you want, do you want an auto blog , micro niche or an authority site

I am a business owner- self made, self promoted, self educated, self financed. I am floundering in the SEO dept. and low on funds. Much of the jargon is going over my head. I am sorry to ask but anyone with the time- pm me with any information you think would assist in jumpstarting awareness. I ran a campaign on facebook to work up to 900+ friends but now that is about over and I'm worried the contestants will drop off now. I am using word press- (lightly but am not certain whether im using efficiently or not) Just any help in the right direction would be very much appreciated.
