How to remove Google penalty?

I have a WP blog with +20 unique articles in the financial niche.
I used the Prosense adsense theme.
I had a nr 1 position om my main keyword for more than a year.
It made me 10-15 $/day from Adsense.
A week ago I got a -50 penalty, so I'm at page 5-6 now.
Traffic + earnings dropped 99%.

Is there a way to get back to nr 1?
What can I do or is this a hopeless quest?
Is there someone who has experience with this matter?

Nothing special just more promotion. Drop your links on some blogs, forums, bookmarking sites, maybe some article sites etc etc. Only way up is backlinks my friend.

I think google has to use the penalty thing with caution especially with backlinks because if they penalized you for too many backlinks at one time i could just go to the top ten of google and give automated trash links to my competition therefore they probably won't penalize for backlinks. Your situation i don't know, check yahoo site explorer and see if some of your old links are gone and make sure you don't have to many ads on your website even ezine articles had to cut down on their ads because of google, that's as much help as i can think of right now, sorry i couldn't give more.

Backlinks would be the best option for you right now. Go around and comment on high traffic blogs and sites to help increase those wonderful backlinks.

I use a 336x280 + 160x600 + 486x60 ads + 1 link blok ... is that too much?

I had couple of sites getting google penalties recently but they are all back now. My advises are:

1. Finding Reasons: I guess google didn't penalize your website but de-value your website by changing its algorithm. I guess your problem is in your content. If your website is solely for Adsense then you need to make google to think you provide more.

2. Ask reconsideration: request for reconsideration is the best shot on this. Don't pray your website will be back in days. It will just be there .... But you will need to tell google what did you do and how desperate you want the site back.

It is a very frustrate process. If you website has some kind of PR, my suggestion is just sell it and focus on other projects. Adsense will need to accompany with updated unique contents. If your site is solely for adsense, then google will de-value your site.

Don't follow the advice of the person that just posted, especially filing for a reconsideration request. You should only file those under the following conditions

1. Your site is removed from the index, if you do site:URL.com and your domain doesn't show up.

2. You've experienced a blatant penalty for 6+ months.

Chances are you are experiencing a Google dance, typical and normal procedure for Google and website rankings. Keep building solid backlinks, add more original content and get rid of one adblock. Oh, and be patient!

I would suggest editing your tags,heading,and adding some content, you want them to think its a new and improved site then keep building quality links.

I would do what someone already said and cut down on one block especially if their are more than 3 links in each block. When you reduce the number of ads, you especially want to do it with the ads at the top of the page (the new panda update). Add more original (unique) content to your pages especially if you have a high ad-to-content ratio. Than be patient and wait for google to crawl your site after being updated.
