How to remove bad back-links?

I used the disavow tool to remove backlinks from two sites who copy the exactly text of my site and link then back to me. I get about 50 spam backlinks daily by them and it seriously hurt my SEO.

I used the disavow tool one month ago, nothing happened until now. I think Google wants us to eat each other up with negative seo so they can sell their ads better

with the help of ms excel and google disavow tool you can remove bad or low quality links within some days of time

I don't really understand the disavow tool. I'd really like to know what links google is currently judging my sites on after disavowing a good amount. Without that knowledge there is just no way to optimize my site anymore.

I faced the similar problem few months back. I found the domain owners email ID through whois. I mailed them and found success rate at 50%. I even called few people and asked them to remove the links manually. Yes, its a tedious one indeed.

I went through the unnatural link thing from a competitor who had stupidly thought he could bad link our site. We got the message, and with just some investigating all the backlinks (I used the 75 free trial on Moz) to export every link and check out what was going on. I hadn't paid attention to backlinks before since I'd rather write articles.

I looked into the Google disavow and it just didn't make a lot of sense of how much good it would do so I contact webmasters on the link I saw were crap (make sure to use Gmail for this since they're watching) and did the reconsideration request. Two days later they sent another e-mail showing examples of the bad backlinks. These were on those crappy forum profiles of sh*t sites. I sent a few more e-mails to webmasters and responded to G very thoroughly pointing out that so many of the backlinks were done is a very short amount of time plus our site is very reputable so that didn't hurt it.

Within days, the penalty was revoked and the competitor got slapped real hard by G. To all those thinking that doing a negative campaign is easier than actual work...big G can track you down since most have no idea of what they're doing in the first place.

I would really use the disavow as a last alternative as there's no time limit on how long it will take to have any effect. If G sees that you're trying to fix a problem, they can work with you surprisingly.

How did you know which competitor?

Once I started looking at the backlinks, they were using the same profile name they used on their own site board. (how original I know) I never even mentioned to G about who I thought it could be in case I was wrong, but they were quick to say they could see that it was negative SEO and would take the appropriate measures, etc.

When I saw the competitors site sink quickly in the SERPS that pretty much told me who was behind it. Seems like it's way easier to just focus on your own site and do right by it rather than create silly drama and shortcuts which don't usually work.
