Here are two practical methods to reduce CPM on Facebook

CPM is influenced by many factors, such as geo-location, which we can't change. However, there are other parameters we can easily influence.

➖ Be more precise with targeting

If you’re selling children's products, your target audience will mostly be women aged 30 to 50. This way, we avoid spending money on a non-target audience, which helps reduce CPM. The same logic applies to weight loss products, various other goods, and even financial offers. Why waste money on 18-year-old students without a job when you can set a threshold for people who are already established and have something to invest?

➖ Ad frequency

Seeing an ad once might not be enough for a user to make a purchase, but bombarding them five times a day is not a good idea either. It's better to use Facebook's automated rules. If a specific ad group performs poorly due to high frequency, it can be automatically turned off. This way, people who clearly aren't interested in the product won’t see it again, and your budget won't go up in flames.

What methods do you use to reduce advertising costs? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

In addition, you can also refer to some methods such as Optimizing custom customer files, using different ad formats and ad placements, optimizing over time, improving ad content advertising, use bidding strategies,...

What should we do when CPM suddenly increases?
If you're looking to lower your CPM, I’d suggest really honing in on your audience to make sure you're targeting the right people. Also, invest some time in creating ads that are visually appealing and engaging, they can make a huge difference. Try out different formats to see what clicks, and don’t hesitate to adjust your bidding strategy if things feel off. Regularly testing and tweaking your content based on what works can really help, too. It’s all about finding that sweet spot.

CPM is also a part but not decisive for everything, as some products have almost similar CPMs.

Narrowing down precise targeting and managing ad frequency are key to lowering CPM. I also focus on testing creatives to improve engagement, higher engagement rates usually lead to better CPM. Another trick is running ads at specific times to avoid peak competition.

Thanks for the valuable insights. Besides the points you've mentioned, there are numerous other strategies to explore, including enhancing ad relevance, utilizing Facebook's bidding options, and experimenting with various ad formats.

Narrowing down targeting will trigger re-learn phase and increased CPM. Smaller audience - higher price.
So not agree that it’s a way to reduce CPM
