How to really set back a trial period of a software?

From time to time there are softwares that survive formatting my laptop.
They basically say that the trial period is expired after formatting + a fresh Windows.

They probably use some UUIDs or something.
Does someone know what are the common methods they use and how to circumvent them.
Would a HWID changer be enough?

Any ideas are welcomed

thanks, but I tried ubuntu some years ago didn't like it.

Yeah, I basically use this method for some programs
but imagine Rendering Software or some other software that needs a lot of performance - you can't run them well in a VM.

Is there a way to get the resetted software out of the VM? - So that you can use the full performance of your PC?
