How to reach this competitor ?

Hello,

I would like to rank #1 for one medium search keyword (4000 search per month) but there is something curious about my website and competitor website... so I would like to have some tips what to do now.

Basically,

Competitor (1 Rank) - 17 backlinks (no social signals) - all from PR sites,
words 1611 (2717 including stop words),
main keyword - 3,02% keyword density
main keyword + review - 0,37% keyword density




My Website (27 rank) - 520 backlinks (pbn links, ******** comments, high pr bookmarks, some social signals),
words 1319 (2896 including stop words),

Age of the websites? Age of the backlinks? Quality of backlinks?

Competitor - 2 years and 4 months + he using https (does google favor it?)

Go to ahrefs and enter the competitors site and see where their 17 backlinks are coming from. I would assume they are relevant and high quality. If you want, post the URL and I will take a closer look

did you see his domain rank? the above screenshot of your competitor is domain or inner page ? if you want i can take a look

Throwing some random % of any metrics is not the way you should approach this. This is not maths, or a scientific research.

Competitors backlinks are from prnewswire.com and sites that scrape them/copy them ..no other backlinks

all backlinks have 100% anchor with one keyword

Basically he has one backlink with anchor and other 16 backlinks are just duplicate of that 1 ..still owning serp

probably has some (or a lot of) hidden links which ahrefs can't pick up. a proper pbn is hidden and the links don't show up in ahrefs, majestic or moz...
