Hi guys,
I have a marketing company here in montreal. we have an office in NY as well.

We do everything in house. got a few clients here and there and making about 2 000.00 a month.
We offer services like social media marketing, video marketing, seo, website design, development, monthly maintenance and pr services.

our income every month is very low. yet we have budget to pay salary to our workers. (saved money)

we cant keep on making $ 2000 a month... we hired a sales agent to make calls and emails. he's paid $ 2000.00 a month.

its the third week and not much conversion. we targeted east coast hotels , a lot of them liked our site and most of them were already working and happy with the company they are working with.

my question is...: our company site is perfect, services and resources we have to deliver these services... everything is perfect... all we need is clients and sales. how to do this ? where, who to target .. a lot of people need these services .... but who to make this happen.

a company like this can make 50K a month from one client or 100 clients ... we all know that ...

but im busy working on my other startup as well so I cant really pick up the phone/ meet potential customers. But I have some money to pay an agent or anyone who can do something to get us conversions....

BHW members i need your advice !

thanks !

So as stated above, you are a marketing company that wants to outsource it's own marketing ?
This is a recipe for disaster. Hold off on your other start up or ditch this.
Stop paying other people. You are making $2000 pm and spending $2000 pm on a sales agent ?
You need to renegotiate his salary so that it is based on results. He should be paid a commission on the number of clients he gets you.

but im busy working on my other startup as well so I cant really pick up the phone/ meet potential customers.

This might be where your problem is - you're not really focused on your business. You can't really expect your company to grow by itself - you need to "tend" to it!

Like others have suggested, your sales guy needs to be paid on commission.

Good luck!

I know the problem is this:

"but im busy working on my other startup as well so I cant really pick up the phone/ meet potential customers."

But I have been doing really good numbers with the startup. It's growing daily... I will do a series A to get funding soon. But I need to survive until then.

On the other hand, the marketing company has served Fortune 100 clients in the past so I have a good base and resources/ workers.

It's just that I have to let one go... or focus more on one.

Sales guy on commission ? I wish he agrees to do that! Will have a talk... !

Thanks guys

Get out there man! Something that I have been doing to make sales that seems to be quite effective is going to "get-togethers", parties, or anything that brings a lot of people together and easy to make conversation. Start talking to people about what they do for work then bring up your business, hand them a business card (or a few) and tell them that if they know anyone with a website to refer them and you will pay them $100 cash. Works wonders. Word of mouth advertising is the best kind IMO.
