15 years of experience here. Countless front page rankings and competitor analysis. I thought I would share some insight on how some websites are dominating without links against pages that have good external links.

Okay! So remember that Google is always aiming at sending visitors to the most relevant place for keywords searched. Therefore, think of websites as resources such as libraries. Google wants to send visitors to the library with the most on that topic. Therefore, by having a massive amount of web pages will help you leverage the relevancy from it to rank against URLs with links, and do so without any links for yourself. If all you have is time as your disposal, remember that time = $$$$$$$ Investing your time on building your websites pages with relevant content optimized around your root keywords will help out tremendously. Dont be discouraged without having a big budget, because most of us started with pocket change before hitting our first 6 figures :)

You just have to believe in yourself, and understand how to elevate a market. Use ahrefs to see how many pages a website has, and always scan the 10 top serps using ahrefs to see which websites are ranking without any links as proof this market is not too competitive. Ive seen this countless times, and thought I would drop this valuable insight for the noobs out there who think the only way to rank on Google is with external links!

Also, never underestimate the most of internal links with optimized content!

I disagree here. Ranking is based on page-level, not on site level.

Not because you make a lot of relevant but not-so-good content on a topic that can make you a authority in this niche.

It's always based on how good your individual page is that matters to rank. Google wants to send visitors to the page with most value on that topic.

You are 100% right this is best way to rank your website without backlinks

Rank with links, rank without links.
The truth of the matter is that you need both... links and content.

What?

If it was that easy, we wont be spending shit tons of $$$$ on links. Instead just create a big site with relevant content and pray to God and Google that one day it will rank itself.

That's an interesting point of view. I'm sure that everyone would agree that the page level matters. But in your opinion, the overall site/domain doesn't make a difference to how pages are ranked?

To rank without link it is possible only with the use of quality content. The content should be unique and relevant to the search thing.

People underestimate the power of external links, internal linking and mass page.

I believe his point is you can find niches where the top competion have ranked with little to no links and you can do the same with better on-page SEO/internal linking/outbound authority links.

Precisely! Glad some people understand the methodology. Hey I am not gaining anything from this advise, just trying to provide some insight to the noobs as veterans did for me 15 years ago when I was just a lurker.

I can partly agree with that. Just yesterday I found a site in a competitive niche that only has one internal link and not a single external backlink. However, the overall authority of the website plays a very important role. If you have a very strong and authoritative website, then you can rank subpages without backlinks in some niches. But for the overall authority of the website, it needs external backlinks, that's a fact.

an interesting part of seo is that, even though something is wrong/completely not used by google/made up/ can output a similar result to the correct outcome. Because some of these theory does come from the testing and experience of SEOers' observations and it will overlap a lot with the correct way of doing SEO naturally.

for example, we all know google does not use DA, LSI, etc, like Bill Slawski claimed so many times xyz is not used by google. But da does reflect how authority your site is in a way, we still pick links based on DA. And using LSI keywords still helps you get a google ranking result, not because it exists but it has a huge overlap with semantic and other meaningful keywords.

Domain authority does help but not in a way it's a DA, it's more about historical data, EAT, links, etc.

just my two cents

One of the fastest ways to RANK WITHOUT BACKLINKS is to do the following:

Find your competitors
Run their domains through semrush or some other SEO tool
Find their low difficulty ranked keywords
Scrape the keywords
Study the keywords in terms of SEARCH INTENT and NICHE SPECIFICITY
Filter the remaining keywords in terms of CONTENT TYPE (informative vs transactional vs commercial)
Cluster the remaining keywords in terms of THEME SIMILARITY and HOW THEY COMPLETE/COMPLEMENT each other
Find content that ranks for your themes and copy and paste into your outline
Rewrite the text NOT word for word but based on THE INFORMATION they contain
Keep tweaking your text until it is MORE ENGAGING and EASIER TO READ than the originals
Optimize your content with Frase or Postpace or some other tool
Post

Do this until you have 100 to 150 pieces of content posted to your blog

Move on to the next niche site

Once you start to rank, post your COMMERCIAL INTENT content and interlink to them from the pages you published before

Easier to rank KWs help you get domain authority faster
