@dekadent30 the first thing you need to look at is if there are any other Twitter accounts ranking for the search query. If not, is there an FB page or something similar? Google will only rank a Twitter page for a keyword if it makes sense for it to show up in the SERPs for a search term.
A good idea is to exercise common sense and judge things in terms of search intent. If your search query ranks Twitter or social media pages, then you should see what others are doing to get ranked there. How are they relevant? If it is a Pinterest page, then Twitter won't rank since the query is where people are looking for images.
I want to rank for - "keyword twitter" so first page is with 10 results containing twitters. My competitors have a lot of followers 85k-300k but one twitter on 9th spot has just 3k followers. I think google takes followers count into consideration when ranking twitters but my competitors have no backlinks so maybe i can outrank them with some links
