Hi friends

I have a non English blog and i want to rank for some short targeting keywords

I have many articles for long tail keywords and for many of them i rank between page 1 to 3

for example for phrase "kebab cooking tips" i rank page 1 but for keyword "cooking" i am not even in first 10 page of SERP.

I do perfect internal seo on my blog but i can not rank on short keywords.

my question is how i can rank for short keywords and what is the best White hat way to do that.

Thank you for advice

(My blog is not English and keyword cooking is Enlgish Translation of my keyword)

So you're basically asking us how to do offpage seo, did I get that right?

Continue posting longtail keyword pillar content to build authority and start linkbuilding for the short keyword (guest posting, give away stuff in exchange for a review,... there are plenty of methods described here on bhw)
Keep in mind that keywords like cooking have a very high competition, so if you want to rank for them you'll need strong links - it's time consuming and expensive.

Single word keywords are very much difficult to rank due to high competition but as you know nothing is impossible.

Single word keywords area unit noticeably tough to rank because of high competition however as you recognize nothing is not possible.

Lol. The question was asked over 6 months ago, and people answering it now. I don't think the OP would not need answer for this, and his last seen was on March month. He must have ranked that KW already I guess.

btw, for those who has similar doubts, this would be my answer. :)

If its non-english KW, you must be targeting locally right? If its low competitive in your region, it would not be so tough to get it ranked, build some blog posts, web 2.0s with unique contents, keep updating your site with fresh contents, I guess that would be enough. But it takes TIME more than you expect, its a single word KW.

The keyword Cooking is more general and it will have high competition.
Because many people will use this KW for their sites so competition will be more.
If you want to use this same KW means buy traffic for that site.
Or try to change your KW type to broad match or longtail for better results.
