I'm new to SEO, Ive read a lot of guides. I know how to set up wordpress with the right SEO friendly plugins but creating back links is a different story.
I want to get as many back links as possible but I can't afford to buy xrumer or scrapebox.
The keyword I'm trying to rank for has 90,000 monthly searches is that decent? google adwords shows it's very low competition.
can i get some advice on getting traffic to my site?

If that 90,000 monthly searches is exact then yep it is way more than decent but also probably highly competitive!

Google adwords does not show the competition rating unless you meant for adwords and the green bar wasn't very full which generally is an indication that the keyword is not very good for buyers (however with 90k searches can still make you cash).

Do some research on analysing your competition and check to see how many backlinks the top 3 websites have... then in general you can see a rough guide on how many you are going to be needing!

thanks for the advice, yeah i meant adwords keyword tool. there's barely any bar for "competition".
i just don't know HOW to rank up in search engines you know. manuelly creating backlinks would probably take ages, and besides that i dont even know an efficient way of creating manual backlinks, never seen a tutorial or anything.
id rather have it automated, so would xrumer and scrapebox be the ideal suggestion?
is there any alternatives to those programs that are freeware?

thanks, im using CPA as my source of money. not gateways, just trying to promote CPA offers. so my obvious next goal is to find out how to drive traffic to a website i make in the fastest and most affective way possible.

Well I would get some confirmation that the competition was really low before I came up with a strategy to get ranked. There are some uBot based bots out there to be had, now they are more limited than xrumer but if you only have one or two sites they work fine and you can get them for less than $40. There is also scrapebox is you want to do blog commenting.

yes, im thinking about getting a license to scrapebox, but i dont want to purchase anything until i know what im going to do with it.
i hear a lot of things about anchoring texts.. sandboxed websites.. do I just search keywords up on scrapebox to post to and put my link to my website and let it run?

be careful with the search amounts. i have seen it say 1 million and once you hit the "exact" button it will drop to 200.

Use Market Samurai. It's Keyword Research and SEO Competition Modules allows one to assess the number of competition for exact phrase keyword matches in Google and the strength of the top 10 ranking pages in Google (shows both on-page and off-page criteria)

Hi,

One thing to note about getting backlinks is that you don't need many, if you are able to find a few quality ones. A few quality links and good onpage optimization will go a long way.

If the keyword that you are targeting is currently very high in competition why not find a longer tail keyword for example: dog training you can target something like dog training at home or dog training obedience course, you will have less competition tapping on the traffic that way.

You can use google's new tool called the wonder wheel to find out what google thinks is related to your keyword, that makes your optimization much easier.

To find longtail keywords on google you can either use the google's own keyword tool or market samurai. Group your keywords so that they all relates to your primary objective.

I have been using a software called keyword research pro to generate huge list of keywords from google and meta search engines, from there I will select some of the lower competing keywords and optimize them, usually gets on first page of google in a few days if not a few hours.

Try to milk those longtail keywords because it is an area left wide open.

If the top 3 results are blog posts/forum threads, should I check the backlinks to the thread/post or the site itself?
