Time for a holiday update!
I have been doing a handful of non IM things (real estate) but i still play with a few websites. My focus now is long term investments.
My Seo strategy has not changed much, but it has changed.
What i mainly do now:
1. HIGH Quality Web 2.0s.
Think mini sites with real content, updated bi monthly. Backed by social signals and tier two links.
Signals, bookmarks and shares. I find social a great way to expand my websites audience.
Easy way to dilute anchor text or beg for a infographic guest post. It works, but requires some capital and manual out reach.
4. Guest Post
I have leaned away from pbn links because...
1. Low relevance
2. Public networks go down in a year
3. High amount of work to up keep
4. Foot print free is getting harder
My pbn article still applies, but over time i notice more and more foot prints in even my own networks. It may be experience, but unless i use a unique html design, i can tell it is a pbn.
Smaller footprints like a site looking too real. Or not having a personal tone, sticks out.
Unless i want to build mini authority sites or a bunch of blogs with a personal tone, i can tell a website is a pbn.
That combined with annual and monthly fees, and any public network i buy goes down in a year, i stay away.
That means i need real websites to pull the weight, which means guest posts.
5. High Quality Article Submission
I once called these public guest posts. Think buzzfeed or houzz.
Sites that have the ability to take user submission but are not auto approve.
I use these to dilute anchor text. These are sold as 'authority links' in the marketplace and fiverr. They make good tier one prioerties which stick around longer than most pbn links.
6. Press Release
I still use them, but for real news.
7. Manual Comments / Community Posts
Only to dilute anchor text, and grow my non seo audience, i still occasionally blog comment, post on yahoo answers and forums.
I use this to diversify but also get contacts. I have landed a lot of guest posts because i comment on blogs or q and a websites and get noticed.
8. Other links
Some other links are still good. Audio links or css galery links can work if they apply to your niche.
I still use some, but this is entirely niche soecific.
Excellent Explain with detail thanks for good information.
Great Share I really appritiate it.
Great to see you back here lightningblitz.
one of the things I'm confused on is 2.0s and PBNs. My question is do I build a 2.0 with the exact same keyword as my main website with just less information and dumbed-down? and on the 2.0 regarding links, do I just have like a recommendation saying "check out this website (link)" somewhere within the information that the user is reading ? My last question is about pbn, I keep hearing people talking about backlinks . I've Googled and try to look up information on exactly what this looks like but where are these backlinks, what do they do and, where do I put them once I purchase a pbn. Thanks for this information by the way it was really good post.
I will not amswer every question imdividually as i fear that will not really help. I made a web 2.0 guide you should look into.
I can shed some light for you.
Two opinions exist on web 2.0s. One is to target your main key word. Not dumbed down, but cover your main keyword.
If my keyword is blue widgets, the web 2.0 would be about blue widgets.
I do something different. I target a long tail keyword.
My articles target multiple keywords including long tail key words. I also find a list of long tail key words which are related but will not fit into my money site.
For example, blue widget money site covers terms: blue widgets, blue widget home repair, home widget set up, blue widget installation.
Another long tail varient i found in keyword research is "blue widget installation cost". Since i am not using that keyword on my moneu site, i write an article about it and use it on my pbn or web 2.0.
The long tail keyword should rank if it is low comp and a long tail. Then i link back to my moneysite.
The reason i do this is i find a link from a website ranking in the niche is superior to a link which is not ranking for a related keyword.
The other part of your question is how to link. That is a whole other can of worms.
You need anchor text diversity but you have the right idea.
excellent thread. will bookmark for future reference.
Do you spin your original web 2.0 article using Wordai?
Nice detailed thread OP.
The outstanding experience you are sharing. Ismasti.com
thnx man this helped a lot
Thanks for sharing... great advice for people that are starting this journey...
great info, guys, you're a pro
Do you recommend lower volume, long tail keywords?
For instance, say you want to rank for "how do I cook" building it specifically, "how do I cook chicken in a toaster oven" (obviously not a real idea, but same concept)
Great Information, Thank You For Shearing
Separate names with a comma.
