Focus on your strength of creating quality content and yes, with quality if you add longer videos of about 8 - 10 minutes then it would eventually help you grow your watchtime hours organically.
It is definitely hard graft but with smart work using effective use of time and tools, eventually it would pay dividends as it happened to a channel I manage.
