Hey there! I heard to qualify for Trial reels feature your account must have 500-1000 followers.
At the same time I heard from some sellers that not necessarily the most important to switch account to professional. It doesn't work for me. I also tried a few approaches from youtube such as send request to help center on IG app but it doesn't help either.

Perhaps some of you here have any tips to share.

Hey! I’ve been exploring the same thing. From what I’ve seen, the Trial Reels feature seems to roll out selectively — having 500–1000 followers might help, but it’s not guaranteed. Some users got access with less, while others with more didn’t.

Switching to a professional account may help trigger eligibility, but it’s not always enough on its own. IG support doesn’t seem to respond to feature requests like this.

If anyone here has tips or managed to activate it successfully, feel free to share. Would be helpful to know what actually worked.

There may be a follow requirement and limited to a geo location for trial purposes. Check with other threads as well to see.

The “Trial Reels” rollout does seem inconsistent, even accounts that meet the follower range (500–1000) don’t always get access. From what we’ve seen, it’s likely tied to a mix of factors:
  • geo eligibility (some countries still don’t have it),
  • account age/activity (regular Reels posting helps),
  • and niche engagement (accounts with Reels history or creator-type behavior are prioritized).

Switching to a professional account may help, but it’s not guaranteed. Avoid spamming the Help Center, that usually gets ignored.

If you really want to trigger it, try maintaining 2–3 weeks of consistent Reels activity, with trending audio and hashtags, and avoid automation during that time. Sometimes that’s enough to push the eligibility flag.

Yeah from what I discovered posting reels consistently works. I have a few accounts with about 250 followers and available trial reels.

"trending audio" - regarding this it doesn't matter if you select trending sound on instagram or upload video with your sound aka "original" it works same for the reach - this is the response from Head of Instagram. You can follow him on IG he shares a lot helpful info about IG features and impacts on it.

Totally agree with you, it's super random. I’ve got accounts with similar stats, some have it, some don’t, and a few had it then lost it.

I’m starting to think IG’s just silently testing different user types. If anyone figures out how to actually trigger it, I’m all ears too.

Seems like the Trial Reels' rollout has been somewhat inconsistent so what works for others won't always work for you.
Typically though 500 to 1000 followers does appear to be roughly the minimum threshold (mostly) but some users say they got access even slightly below that. Switching to a creator acc helps in quite a few cases. Not a hard requirement but it does seem to boost your changes of eligibility.
Presumably, your account's region and content type also plays into that with specific niches also seemingly getting favoured over others.
For a time, you could supposedly get it through support requests but it sure doesn't work anymore.

So funny how people don't know about this. Here you go:

https://creators.instagram.com/blog/instagram-trial-reels?locale=en_GB

Go to this on mobile, click create trial reel, should open up IG then click the reel you want to upload and it will allow you to access it. It may be the case of repeating this over and over to post more. I didn't have it then I did it like 5 times and got the feature on an account with 50 followers.

Use the trick of liking/commenting on multiple accounts in the same niche so that Instagram knows your account is active, thereby making it easier to be invited to try new features

Did you tried this and it work for you? I'm not sure if this help ..... offcourse keeping the account active is not bad but i doubt can help much

You may want to use a support tool service but be careful

Had to activate this for an automation system I built.

Copy and paste this link in the browser on the same device you have instagram on

instagram://camera_modal/?target_mode=reel&entry_point=727

It may ask you to "Continue on Instagram" - click yes and you'll have a trial reel dialog box.

(It can be posted as a link too, but BHW dialog box removes the : from the URL. So it doesn't work.)

What's that?

What's that?

That's what is called a Deeplink - it opens the Instagram App and triggers the Trial Reels Dialog Box

I just noticed @influxx already answered this.

Go to https://creators.instagram.com/blog/instagram-trial-reels (on your phone)

And click on "Create Trial Reel"

I am trying the deeplink you shared, it opens a popup "open this page in "instagram"? but then it seems like it just takes me to the standard reel upload, should it have trial reel option ticked in the upload settings like the other account that already has it enabled?

edit: when I do it while logged into an account with active trial reels it works, but not on the ones that dont have the feature

I also tried the link @influxx shared but same issue, the link for me says "create reel" instead of "create trial reel" and it just takes me to standard reel upload

Yes that means it worked! Just follow the same as you would create a reel. When you put in the caption at the top it will say "this is going to non-followers" it means its a trial reel

Okay will give it a try now to see thanks again man, will update

To qualify for Trial Reels, consistently post engaging content, follow Instagram’s guidelines, and grow your audience. Use trending audio, stay active, and apply when invited. Having a professional account with good performance metrics improves your chances.
