Hey guys!

I am in the process of writing an ebook which will first be offered in my native language (croatian) for the whole ex yugoslavian market and then translated to english and (presumably) offered as a clickbank product.

Knowing our mentality I have one big concern. How to protect the ebook from copying and sharing? If I make it as a simple pdf...one guy will buy it and then share it with everyone else. Internet copyright laws mean nothing here (there are laws but nobody is enforcing them).

I am offering some good business/making money solutions and I think there will be high demand for it, especially now when more and more people are jobless (croatia). Naturally, I'd like to be payed accordingly. :)

there's no perfect solution for this, but for instance e-junkie use pdf stamping: "We can stamp the buyer's name, email and their unique Transaction ID on the top-left of each page of the PDF they receive before they download it. Unlike DRM (Digital Rights Management), this is a simple, non-intrusive way to discourage buyers from sharing their PDFs."
Code:

Seems like a good solution but I think that I'll need intrusive way for my people. :D

I think it would be impossible to protect an Ebook.
You could probably slow them down.
Other than that you could put a copyright notice on every page.

I'll definately use ejunkie's way + copyright notices all over the place. Hopefully it will be enough. And I'll scare them throughout the book that if the method gets saturated - it will stop working. :)

The only thing you can do is slow them down. You will never stop it. Better to have a lot of links in the book that you will profit from so that anyone that gets a pirate copy will be influenced to buy something more from you. That way at least you will profit from the illegal distribution of your product.

Thanks mate...thats what I am planning to do. The book is betting related and will be spammed with my affilliate links. On top of that I will offer them extra content if the opt in to my mailing list (long term gain).

You can't.

I can take pictures of my screen for example. How do you secure this?

You can make it only more difficult.

make it picture format with water mark instead of pdf format. will become difficult to copy.

you ask question like this on BHW :D ! ask how to get any ebook for free and you will see
a lot of ideas .

I love free things ;)

Even if he puts the copy-write on each page,
isn't there a program someone can put his ebook
in to change the copy-write and all other affiliate
links within his ebook...

Re-Branding I believe it's called

John

Hi,
The best ebook protector is HTML EXECUTABLE and EBOOK GOLD

Good Luck

Yeah, what Resende said, those 2 are good ones, but like with most things there's no perfect solution so you gotta do with what you've got I guess.
