I have the tool registered for a few months now, only now got around trying it.

Could you guys give me any tips? What have you seen that worked and not?
How long does it takes for downloads to get into triple digits per week? Is that hard to do or not?

Which sites would you say are most important? Basing on Pagerank/Alexa, Download.com, Softpedia, Softonic. Any of those require manual uploading or automated is fine normally?

Thank you.

I tot PAD submitting is dead.

Now is more into mobile apps, or browser extension.

PAD is not dead if you are actually promoting a software that you have. I have some pretty decent backlinks from sites that have written their own reviews so the content is absolutely unique and relevant to my tool. I couldn't tell you which ones do this but the reviews did not go up over night.

I wouldn't bother too much on writing out multiple descriptions and such but do take time to make sure that everything is correct and appears to be for a genuine above board software in the hopes that you attract some of these reviews.

PADs aren't as good as they were 5+ years ago but they can still be used to get some good backlinks.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
So how long would you say it took to get measurable results? A week? A few weeks? A few months?

This is for a few programs that I wrote that have a pretty small niche but the sale price per product it's very good, so each targeted download is worth a lot to me.

Also, have you tried any paid publicity inside these sites? I know download.com offers a program to promote your software in their site.
Are theirs or any other worth it?
