How to prevent Google Auto-Title Tagging ?

Maybe title is a little bit misleading, but I didnt know how to call it. But basically I lost over 30% traffic due lower CTR from SERP because of google dont respect my website title and use their own. What I mean -> Your TITLE: "10 Cutest Dogs" and Google will replace it with this: "Cute Dogs" ..so you have to admit that you will lose some CTR from "10 Cutest Dogs" to "Cute Dogs" ..so my question is how to prevent this happening or some shady way around it

I don't believe there's any real way to force Google to keep your title tag. They feel theirs is better for the user's experience.

I have not had any luck finding a fix to this other then actually changing the content on the page

If your site Wordpress? If so, download the Yoast SEO plugin, go to the post you mentioned, scroll down to the Meta Title and Meta Description, and write your own.

If you're still wondering, Google mess around with your titles if they're too short or too long. Loads of my pages were doing this and i'm not sure if it could have caused a penalty.

For example my about us page showed as "About us - Domain name here". So I had to go over and change each to be around 40 characters. All fixed apart from one which is being stubborn for some reason and messing up my ranking for a KW.
