(this is a x-post from the main forum. I wasn't getting any responses there. Sorry! I'll delete the other if one gets responses)

Hi, I'd like to take my main blog to the next level. It's done really well with organic growth, but it needs more now. Can you guys tell me if this plan is enough to protect me from getting my main account banned?

Goal: I plan to use 5 bots to reblog my main blogs new posts. That way it will help my main blog "trend" and then hopefully get into more of the trending tags.

How I'm Gonna Do This:

  • Each bot will have it's own dedicated private proxy
  • I'll use a VPN to connect first before I even use TumblingJazz (TumblingJazz should handle the proxies for me)

Questions:

  • Is the VPN part overkill?
  • Or should I be doing even more than that?
    • My main point --> I don't want to Tumblr to associate my bots with my main account in any way.

You don't need VPN, simply use those proxies in your browser (note down what IP you use for each account and set the same IP for the account in TJ). This way you should have login only from the same IP in your account.

Oh, I thought Tumblr had found a way to track more than your IP... has anyone found that having a private proxy wasn't enough?

Having a private proxy should be enough. Just be careful with the amount you reblog+follow.

Make sure you use different themes and flesh out your blogs with posts that don't JUST link back to your main one.

extreme attention to detail and account based ip association. i wouldn't put any more than 3 - 5 at most accounts on each proxy, and i'd look for a multithreaded program that allows you to scale any existing operations

Just follow 200 people daily from the biggest accounts.

Take their last post and follow 50 users and repeat that till you get 200 per day.
