How To motivate yourself to read?

I suggest two things.

1 Get the book - Power of your mind by Chris Onyakilome on Amazon.

2. This is what I do daily. I ask GOD for help. Boredom, and lack of motivation fizzles away when I bind the demons behind it in JESUS CHRIST name.

Sorry, I am not preaching religion, I just said what I do. It works for me.

All to your success

clear your head and focus on the book, be sure hours can pass while reading the book

I've tried reading books multiple time of multiple types and genre but every time I reach a certain stage, I just get bored and eventually Quit.
ANY SUGGESTIONS ?

Every person has interests. Sometimes we don't even know what they are until they emerge. But we do. So it's just a matter of finding things that trigger your interest.

I'm just trying to develop a habit, but there is so much information out there that I easily get OVERWHELMED

Reading books as its own end does not offer much reward, unless the goal is simply entertainment.

For non-fiction books, you want to *study* books, not read them.

Then don´t read them, I just read fact books where I can learn stuff, I don´t ever read fiction.

But you read all my fictional stuff through the years, you wasted two times more than reading a book.

I´m being polite.

Yes the most polite.

But thinking about all the fishy nonsense all the members of this forum have read from me the last 2 years makes me... very happy.

@BassTrackerBoats even has me now pm him about nonsense. But he is VERY polite with me.

He knows the fish is a central part of the BHW community !

Reading is for gaining knowledge and not for gaining motivation. Motivation is something that arises from within and it cannot be acquired. However, effectively reading self-help books may triggers the motivation from within.

I mainly read success, motivation and financial books. Books that interest me and that I can learn something to implement in life - an idea or shortcut or solve a problem.

Once you read a book that helps you in your life, your believe changes and you now know good books can give you knowledge/shortcuts/ideas/methods etc. that authors have taken years to uncover. Don't you want to gain that valuable knowledge in few weeks reading? Don't you want to save time solving problems quicker to be a better you?

Once you know the benefits, don't you think that will motivate you?

Also some books are boring. Skip those. Find those that are interesting with stories and real life experiences. Those capture my attention the most. Books written by authority figures or selling well that you can trust the info are some criterias how I choose books.

Lastly books have fillers too so feel free to skip to the juicy interesting parts. You don't have to read cover to cover. Skim, skip the boring chapters! Make the read interesting for you! Why suffer through boring stuff if you don't enjoy, probably don't believe the idea/knowledge to use it anyways. Find interesting ones that capture your attention and that you can use! You will enjoy reading and continue to read.

What I feel, reading books is not for every one, you need stable mind for that. Just my thought.
