Hello hatters,

I'm in the process of acquiring a website.

It has 24,000 registered users.

Alexa rank is 74k

Average of 23k UV's/month

Average of 175k page views/month

The site is a social bookmarking site with article submissions and a voting system.

Majority of users are from India/Phillipines/United Kingdom

Very little referred traffic from search engines

How to monetize?

So,you're gonna acquire site without knowing where the traffic is coming from or am I wrong?

Traffic is 88% from direct access (page bookmarks in browser etc.)

23K users per month with direct traffic and no organics? Is it cnn.com?
If not the traffic could be fake.

Hi,

If its fake, I would be extremely impressed with how they have done it.

I have studied the browsing habits along with the article submissions.

It seems very legit.

If this is not being done already, keep the site much the same to keep traffic flowing, and rather than adsense, rotate a series of affiliate, CPA, and other offers that you control -- keeping the ads minimal and targeted could increase your conversion rate..

no monetization has been deployed yet - no advertising of any kind.... this is why im eager to get it right first time

... or maybe these are gsa or xrumer bots .
I don't believe in such number of direct hits, but I could be wrong. Have you checked it wit seomoz?

Then advertising should be as unobtrusive as possible - simple rotating text ads at the top of the page are best. Definitely wouldn't do banners.
