How to monetize my website

I have a website which has free downloads for android and ios apps and games. Presently, I am getting around 40K traffic per month and more than 50% of the traffic is from the US. The website has a mixture of various and apps and mobile games mods etc. What do you think is the best way to monetize this traffic. I have already tried content locking but that seems to be quite frustrating for the visitors I guess. Those of you who run a similar website, how do you monetize it. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

The best and most proven method of making a profit out of your traffic is using advertising.
As you have good traffic, you have a good number of potential customers. Customers that are willing to pour money into your coffers. Other than that these are also traffic that can be redirected to sponsored links that are willing to pay you for a sizeable portion of the traffic that you have generated.

This scheme is called “pay-per-click”. With every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link you will be paid. The more traffic you generate and the more clicks that happens would spell to more profits.

Create ad banners in rhe pages of your site and find cpm and cpc companies such as adsense to get paid for your traffic.
 
No one has yet mentioned you could do cost per download and find free apps to promote on your site. You'd get paid per app download, it's a perfect affiliate strategy for your kind of website.
 
You should add banner ads and the like to passively monetize your 40k traffic. Though it may not amount to much, at least your traffic is converting.

Get the cost per install (CPI) offers to the free apps you offer on your website.
you'll give our user just what they want and make some profit.
