I am living near a university with 30 000 students (about 2/3 undergrads, 1/3 postgrads). There are huge notice/poster boards all over campus. I wanted to test if I could make use of these, and got about 30 A3 posters printed (promoting a friends online shop), and hung them up all over the campus (on the notice boards). Nobody has taken them down although weeks have passed. A few got covered by posters that were hung up later, but most of them are still hanging there completely visible.

For only the cost of printing, I can have lost of physical ads/posters in areas with high student traffic. There are lots of other big universities nearby, so I guess I might be able to do the same at some of them. Do you have any suggestions how I can monetize this?

So far the best idea I have come up with is to promote student-oriented services (i.e. an academic proofreading service, and then use some freelance site to get the proofreading done).

Some more ideas would be appreciated!:D

Maybe resume writing too, and once they contact you about proofreading services upsell them with academic writing services (don't directly advertise that obviously).

Also, a dorm/apartment delivery service could probably make a decent return as well.

I have been thinking the same OP, I'm in the same position as you. I was thinking of actually getting a permit for a vending machine. Resume help as gjcontent said could work.

Another offline method others have used is to buy a scholarship/grant .com and send folks to cpa offers on the flyers.

Make a flyer of a CPA offer like "Win an Ipad" with email submit or zip submit and include in your flyer your website :)

I'm sure you would get in trouble with the university doing that. (depending on what uni/country youre in.)

Find apartments to let and advertise them. Get commissions from landlords. That will probably make you the most.

Thanks for your replies! I liked the idea of CPA offers, since it would pretty much be putting up the posters and leaving them there. However, I'm not in the US, and couldn't find any suitable CPA offers for my region.

I also checked what the prices of proofreading services are here, and it costs $300/10 000 words. A dissertation is usually 70-100 000 words = $2100-3000. However, I am not sure how many people actually use this kind of service, so I am not sure of the potential of this one.

The idea of getting rent leads is also good, but will require more work than I am willing to put in. I just want to use the free ad space to create an additional revenue stream as easy as I can. So the more "paste it up an leave it" the better.

The day after I started the thread, I posted up posters offering supplements (I will dropship the orders). I make about $20 per sale. And I am happy to tell you that I have made 10 sales already!:D And the posters have not even been up for a week yet. I will scale up and optimize, and I think I can make an extra $1000/month with this method!
