I have made an extension for Chrome and I want to publish it for free on the Webstore.
Is there any way to make money with it? Implementing ads or something in that way.

*Real-time ad serving that replaces onscreen or hosted ads.

*User Data mining.

*Toolbar (and thus ad) integration.

*Bundling your extension with a CPA affiliate download offer.

What type of extension is it? If it's something that users are willing to pay for, or would like to have free... Then create a free trial version (which requires an offer download) and a paid but offer-free version.

Just a couple ideas. Your primarily looking at data collection and ad serving or affiliate offers.

Ads are the obvious option, although you could have premium features or just build up such a vast amount of people using it, that enough people visit the main website, which will then have ads, offers etc.

Like already suggested ads are the very obvious thing to do.. you can invite sires to put an add on your site... you can also increase the number of visitors on your site to make money...this may also help....

If your chrome extension is still working and available in the chrome app store i would like to offer a way to monetize your extension that can earn upto 10 to 50 $ per day minimum. I don't want to share the details in the open but if you are interested PM me or add me on skype: jigsaw01231 or just reply here

Use the pluggin to inject adsense code onto popular pages like youtube.com/facebook/news websites/twitter/google

make your adds look like part of the page, your stupid users will never know.

There are companies on the market which specialize on addon monetization. What they do is providing you JS code, which you implemenn in your extension, and once done it starts generating $ for you. Of course there are tricks you should know while working with different browsers and there are differences for running monetizing solutions in Chrome and Mozilla for example. I know how to make money without any harm to your userbase,so if you still need any assistance - write me yevgen.kapinus

Indeed, Breaki is right.
Due to new Google's policy every developer of chrome extensions should be careful with monetization solutions. You need to save balance between revenue level and aggressive of ads and monetization methods.
I've tried a lot of monetization network and the best for me is monetizus.com. This guys know how to monetize your extension without any harm to users, without breaking UX and still with high revenue level.
Integration is simple - just add few lines of code, managers are always online and ready to help with any matter. Online dashboard shows daily activity and money, payments are always in time, without any delays. Strongly recommended.

an interesting extensions campaign i saw running on piratebay was

really interesting. The extension does nothing but has a button 'clear browser history' :) I believe they are buying installs and once they get some volumes, will turn on monetization.

Hello,

If you are interested to monetize Chrome Search extensions, we can invite you into Yahoo Search monetization.

Only high quality search traffic from tier 1 countries could be accepted, means we do not accept any kind of BH traffic like bot traffic, these accounts will be suspended.

Kind Regards,
Yahoo Partner

Everyone saying "do ads" and to make them look like theyre on the page, but I would be very careful because that is literally the definition of adware and won't be allowed near the google chrome store... Even if you provide the file download yourself, chrome will be a pain in the *** telling users to make sure what theyre doing and even after the installation it will keep nagging them about it... Just my thoughts on the situation, best of luck.
