Hey Guys,

I have a current (as of 06/20/13) database of every single property (commercial, ag, single family, apartments, etc..) in California. This comes out to 12.7 million rows . The information I have includes:

APN;County;Address;City;State;Zip;Owner;OwnerFirstName;OwnerLastName;OwnerSpouseFirstName;Owner2;OwnerAddress;OwnerCity;OwnerState;OwnerZip;OwnerPhone;PrimaryResidence;PropertyType;Units;SqFt;YearBuilt;Beds;Baths;LotSize;Pool;Stories;EstimatedValue;EstimatedTotalLoanBalance;AssessedValue;AssessedYear;AnnualTaxes;ForeclosureStage;RecordingDate;Trustee;TrusteeSaleNum;TrusteePhone;SaleDate;SaleTime;SalePlace;PostponementReason;PublishedBid;OpeningBid;WinningBid;DefaultAmount;DefaultAsOf;FCEstimatedLoanPosition;FCLoanDate;FCLoanDocNum;FCLoanAmount;FCLoanLenderName;FirstLoanLender;FirstLoanDate;FirstLoanAmount;SecondLoanLender;SecondLoanDate;SecondLoanAmount;ListedForSale;ListingPrice

What ideas do you have to monetize this?

I am currently looking at Microsoft Azure's data marketplace.

Thanks,

I guess you can make website like the one that list all the phone numbers instead list all addresses and when people search for that you can come up on the serp and adsense your way. google map will probably be number 1 but you might make first page.

Make a phone book or address directory out of it.

Interesting replies guys. I was thinking more to the tune of licensing the data or selling copies of the DB. All of you have great ideas. My goal is to make ~250k from this.

Here's a rough idea of how much it is worth from two reputable sources:

Zillow already has all of this data, they just don't publish it.

Rather than licensing or selling the entire data set you could make more money potentially by mining subsets of the data and selling that to a more targeted market.

For example:

1. If you know the purchase price of a property, the initial loan value and the current property value, you can work out who may be worth targeting for higher value purchases / investment opportunities.

2. With that same data you know who has the best equity and therefore would be suitable for secured lending offers.

3. If you know the total loan balance (I noticed that was one of the fields), you know who will be about to free up a chunk of their income as they clear their mortgage.

Approaching a company with a data set relevant to them would be both a more lucrative and a much easier sell.

Thank you for your advice Trepanated. I appreciate it. This will take more time but it's more time well invested.
