How to monetise travel account

Hello guys!

I have a travel related account. I'm still in the process of growing the number of followers but I think the engagement level is not too bad (around 5%). Never bought followers or likes. Everything has been done manually and playing by the rules (trying to engage with other accounts, commenting, liking, etc).

How can I start making money from this account? My intention is not to get rich, but it would be nice to see some $ to keep motivation.

Is affiliate traffic the only way?

Have you tried reaching out to Travel companies, hotels, restaurants, ... in the destinations you are promoting?
You can easily get paid $100-500 per promotional post (+ blog post) and promoting them. Especially in this time of the year when people are looking for places to visit and things to do.
 
Probably the easiest way would be an amazon affil. system included in tweets about the products of your travelling niche. You could also start sharing some content / promos hidden behind shortened links. (****** etc)

That's a really nice idea! I didn't try yet but I will.

In my case, I don't have a website or blog. I only have the IG account. I will try to reach hotels and travel companies. I've already had bad experiences with restaurants in the past. I'm just promoting a country but fortunately it has many touristic regions and cities for almost all type of travellers.

And how can I promote the links? I've read that IG disables all links in captions so people would need to copy/paste or type manually the link.

How many followers do you think he would need to do that?

No more than 1000 followers.
However, the more followers he has the easier it is to convince potential customers/clients to buy in :)

Well it doesn't mean that the method doesn't work at all, it just didn't work out for you.
