How to monetise a MNS with CPA?

I'd like to diversify my income from micro niche sites, and I heard that CPA is often used as an alternative to Adsense for monetisation.

My question is how is it done? What kind of offers work well?

Is it like I create a MNS with a bunch of unique articles, and just put up CPA banners of for example email submit offers just like I'd put ad blocks up? Or is there a more elaborate way to do it?

People go above and beyond to blackhat the cpa game. What you said is what most people partake in, but you can use pop-ups, cloaking, iframes, etc to accomplish the lead or action.

So it's like a simple ad on my site, but in order to get paid, the visitor not only has to click on it, but also submit his email address, correct?

And if I'd like to sell stuff related to my niche, is there a database of webshops that have an affiliate program? I mean more specific than Amazon, like if I were to have a site about Halloween costumes, is there an easier way to find stores with affiliate programs that sell (Halloween) costumes, other than Googling it?
