How to monetise a Meme Site?

I am running a meme site for 5 months now and currently the traffic rise to 6000 to 8000 unique visitors per day. The monthly page views is around 500,000 and the traffic is mainly coming from United State. I have tried different methods to monetise but not able to see any good result.

At the beginning, i used Google Adsense. Luckily i found it violates Google Terms of Service and then i quit it.

Then i tried some CPA offer from MaxBounty but the result is a bit low, 100 - 200 clicks sent to MB result in 1 email. Then i quit it.

I tried some affiliate products such as T-shirts, Toys, But only found lots of clicks but no sales.

I then tried some native ads banner and some CPM banner such as Bidvertiser, Adhow, Adblade (This network terminated my account and claimed i sent them bot traffic, Of cource i did not.), Infolinks, MintClicks, ReklamStore, MGID. But the result is even worse that eCPM only earning $ 0.002 to $0.2.

In the testing, i found the traffic is not really converting to buyers so affiliate marketing may not be a good choice. Any good ideas on how to monetise a meme site with lots of clicks? Any good paying network that pay well with this type of website and traffic?

Content is king, if your audience is liking your content - Try to build meaning interactive full content around it for example quizzes, surveys, stories.

- Interactive content
- Try to get them registered, get their emails to increase retention
- Monetise
 
Think of a meme app. or any other entertainment-related mobile app, build it and promote on your website. you will start getting new users from site and from playstore or app store along after some time. and you can monetize your app with adsense ( aka admob) and earn from highest paying ad network. along with this, you can also promote CPI campaigns from different ad networks. these type of CPI apps are mostly free to install apps and users will try it. you will get paid on each install.

you can launch your own app or promote others app.

I tried to put affiliate products like funny products as a banner ads, the result is getting lots of clicks but no sales.

Yes, you are right. Email marketing is still reliable and vital in the game

Thanks for advicing another source of traffic. I will try to monetise it with CPI

You might want to follow up with them. They’re usually pretty easy to get accepted. If (and it’s a big if) your traffic is good and not mainly boys.
 
If 9gag can use adsense then why you can not?

My advise would also be of posting articles on the same website to increase your chances to get approved by adsense. As memes are mostly viewed by teenagers, my suggestion would be of creating articles such as: "10 Best Way To Make Money From Home", How to Make Money Playing Games Online, "Get Paid To..." and Blabla.
 
Along with memes post some trending articles maybe then adsense may accept your account.
 
500K monthly pageviews is pretty good. At this point, I think the best option is to work with a few different ad network partners, get a header bidding stack set up and monetize that way. If Adsense won't take you, many other sites will. Another option is to set up some slide shows of the best meme jokes / subjects and buy some CPC traffic. I think you're moving in the right direction, you just have to push it and test.

I love meme sites btw. Always fun to read.

Unless i have premium adsense account, or i will risk my own risk if using adsense to monetise

I tried amazon affiliate and putting the ads banner, recieve the clicks but no sales.
 
An update to my status:

I tried to applied lots of PPC, CPM and native ads networks, 90% reject my site.
Few of the networks approve my site and i am testing with these networks.
