How To Model After Others?

I see a lot of sites on flippa I think is really nice and I would love to own them, but of course I won't buy them not right now anyways


So I was wondering which sites,resources, softwares and so on. Can I use to spy on their strategy and then model after them?

I browse Flippa all the time for inspiration.

I tend to look through revenue stats and traffic as you can see the best (and worst) ways to monetize sites and good traffic sources. You can learn a lot from their Google Analytics.

Or you can email them expressing interest and social engineer them into telling you more and more details about the site (hence why I say never tell anyone your traffic sources etc).

Alexa/compete will also give you a good idea where they get traffic from etc.

Backlinkwatch.com will show you a selection of backlinks that they have.

Keywordspy.com shows you keywords they are bidding on.

Also look at how they have marketed the site, which content is successful etc - you can learn a lot from watching auctions.
