First of all you need to use bunch of aged g mail accounts, then use a software which rotates sending emails by sending one email from each account, rotate subject lines, bodies, etc.. If you want to use other services like Sendgrid, Mailgun you need to make sure to keep low spam and bounce rates to avoid blocking your account.

You tried to send from one gmail account I suppose and there are certain limitations.
How large is your email database?

if volume is low, try the ones mentioned i.e. free smtp server.. if high, clean your list and buy amazon SES.. make sure your list is clean...

Scrub the list and remove major traps like admin@domain and webmaster@domain if those subscribers are not yours. There are free and paid online cleaning checkers/ services and there are also desktop email verifiers for that purpose.

Other than those paid service - mailchimp, etc, if you are thinking of sending mass mail via Gmail, you should try getting in touch with providers that sell aged Gmail accounts that are verified by phone. A phone verified account will be more resilient in sending out the email. Also, try getting a large bundle of these Gmail accounts, and if you are using a software, schedule the send nicely, so that each Gmail account has an appropriate interval, so they won't get flagged in the process.
