how to mass email without being marked as a spammer

I need to send out 2,000 plus emails to people on my list. I need to do this without being blacklisted, is this possible? when using a program like bulk mailer with a direct smtp connection are the mails traceable back to me? and if so, how can i avoid the emails being traced and better yet blacklisted.

I've always wondering something... If you are mass emailing with your website in the text, is it possible to be penalized by search engines in anyway if they realize you're affiliated with 'spam' ?
