I've recently become interested in making a website that would allow for user generated pages (articles with embedded youtube videos and the like). I know this isn't a novel (or probably even profitable) idea. I'm just curious about how to make a site like this?
I've done some google searches but find a lot of posts from a few years ago and would like to know if there have been any recent developments in this area? Most of the posts I've come across say that drupal or joomla are probably the best CMS's to use, and that some php and mySQL should be known.
Is this still the case? I'm a very novice programmer and ideally would rather learn to work with pre programmed mods and applications than have to dive in myself. Has there been any plugins for wordpress that could achieve this?
If I wanted to allow user's to put adsense on their own pages, does that make one option more or less favorable? Thanks guys!
