    Dear Members,

You're here because you're intrigued by the title. Well, I'm not going to disappoint you by leaving you with a title, I'm going to explain a method used by a gentleman (who shall remain anonymous) to earn exactly US$78,125,000.

I know, I know, this sounds extremely SCAM-ish, but I promise you, I am not selling you anything nor am I asking for anything in return except for your ideas on how you would twist this method to better suit the IM world.

    Let us begin.

This gentleman bought an email list of 1,000,000 contacts in the Finance field. So far so good. He then proceeded to split this group into 2 groups (A & B). Group A would have 500,000 email addresses as did group B. He then sent two emails. The first with a stock tip to Group A telling them that stock xxx would go up tomorrow and a second email to group B telling them that the same exact stock would go down tomorrow. Are you with me so far?

Tomorrow comes along and everyone finds out the outcome of stock xxx. Let's say it goes up! He immediately eliminates all the email addresses in group B. That means he's left with 500,000 email addresses from group A. He's also left with 500,000 individuals who have now seen him get the stock tip right once. Obviously once is not enough to go further with his plan, so he continues to do this until he reaches 15,625 individuals. These guys have seen him get his stock tips right several times now, see below:

    • 1,000,000
    • 500,000
    • 250,000
    • 125,000
    • 62,500
    • 31,250
    • 15,625

These 15,625 individuals are impressed. So, he sends them all an email inviting them to join his finance workshop at US$5,000 a head. That's US$78,125,000. He retired shortly after.

My question to you. How would you twist this. I don't want to generalize, but I don't think many of us could replicate this, in the sense that we'd have nothing to say in the workshop. Any ideas?

I hope you all enjoyed this.

I actually have read mulitple books on stock investing and trading. I would have a mouth full to say in the workshop.

Although, if you made 78 million on this deal, you could just hire a stock analyst and tell them to pose as you.

That's certainly one way to do it.

Any other ideas? Can the industry be changed at all? It would probably have to be something that has 0.5 probability of going either this way or that way.

that works in principle very well. It can and was applied to almost anything.
It was used extensively few years back in Sport Gambling area.

You need high end, high ticket price, not to streets smart people with risk tolerance. Its not my cup due to moral conflicts, but that is not to say there is not money. Good luck and don't forget to pay back to the society .

You made an untrue assumption there. He's a Finance professor. How did you come up with "he don't know nothing" from everything I mentioned? He simply used A/B in order to capture the 15k+ people's attention. He knows everything there is to know about Finance, but never thought of putting together a private workshop.

This is a clever story, but certainly not true. Having worked in the finance industry myself for many years, I can tell you that:

    1) Finance is a very small club, and everyone knows everyone.
    2) Where money is involved, skepticism is very high. People do due diligence in the hedge fund/equities world in ways you would not expect, and this would not pass the "bullshit test." The bullshit factor is way too high here.
    3) Analysts and managers do not do "workshops" especially from people with no reputation. If you're really that good at picking stocks, someone will either discover and clone your system, or make you an offer you can't refuse and you'll be working for them. They won't go to your workshop, they'll rain money on your head, have you make the money for them, and you take a percentage. Analysts and managers are literally on the phone all day long, sitting in on conference calls listening to dull things like company earnings, EBITDA, etc. Their "hot tips" come from other analysts that are plugged into the verticals they are targeting.

There are a lot more things wrong with that story, but you get the idea.

The emails may not have been sent to the club, but rather those interested in stock tips. There are plenty of those out there. However, this is besides the point. I'm more interested in discussing how this can be twisted to fit IM.

    Thanks for the info tho!

well i traded stock and forex .
its a nice trick now what to do in workshop one trick is to watch some other workshop add something from other workshop mixing it with different method and you are good to go. but basic knowledge is must for that.
I would have added some expert in this field and do a combine workshop.
after the workshop do another workshop 1-2 month later.
One thing i would have done is to buy a some good forecasting service and make a website and through membership site i would give signal out with 1000$ per month service now they trust us so it would sell like a hot cake.
Make a product where all the industry expert are gathered and than sell them with a high price.
One more thing i would have done is to invite them to open a account to my stock trading firm or my affiliated firm and when they trade i would get a commission.
Just imagine 78 million truned to 200+million using the trick
I think i would have done this.

I think the concept is great and sure it may inspire some people however what everyone seems to have missed is that $5000 sold 15,625 times is exactly $78,125,000. That suggests that every single person that receive the invite to the workshop. This basically illustrates a person successfully calling a coin flip 7 times and after that 7 times everyone wanted to invest in him, not a single person of them 15k+ couldn't come up with the $5000 and not a single person was the slight bit skeptical about the idea. Surely this story is not meant to be taken in the literal sense

Hmm... just google for "Simpsons Professor Pigskin"

Any "business person" falling for this deserved it tbh.
Yet it would be funny to imagine this really still working :D

Sure, but lets assume that only 30% of the 15k (5k of persons) pay the workshop, that's still 25,000,000.

    Riiiiiiiiiiiight

I'm buying a stock because my spam filter didn't work. Define a stock tip, please. Do you have any idea behind the complexity about trading securities? What exactly do you think a stock tip is, actually? Go buy this. Go sell this. Here's why:

    Seriously dude?
