How to make profit in a downtrend.

It's general knowledge that the market is currently not at its best, it's as if there's no clear direction and it has been like this for a while now, with a lot of us hoping for a major uptrend soon.

That said, I'd like to believe that there are people still making a lot of money even in these conditions, and by this I mean legitimate ways.

I've read here about people profitting from airdrops, or exchanges that offer staking features and events for their users.

But I need someone that has first hand experience, and I'd appreciate it if someone that has participated in stuff like this could give me pointers on how to go about it.

Well, there are a lot of methods you can still use to make money in this current market state.

- Launchpools on CEX's, these are simple, you stake an amount and get a percentage % apr of the coin that is on the launchpool.
- Airdrops
- Memecoin trading (very risky and very lucrative once you get the hang of it)
- Making long term investments

These are the ones that come to my mind right now, however I am sure there are more.

You can still make money in this market condition if you have good skills in technical analysis on charts. Other methods result in high risk investments.

If you bet on downtrend ?! You can chose that..

Simply short or buy the dips XD. But catching a falling knife is hard and leverage will get most people rekt.

Yeah, people are still making money even in this slow market//..Airdrops can be a great way if you find legit projects. Staking is another option, where you lock up your crypto and earn rewards over time. Some DeFi platforms also offer decent returns through yield farming../ Exchanges sometimes have special events or promotions too. It’s not a get-rich-quick situation, but there are definitely ways to earn, even now. Just make sure to research everything properly to avoid scams.

Essentially any fluctuation (up or down) could be used to make a profitable trade, you could go long or go short.

I get what you mean, and while I'm open to new opportunities, I'm also very cautious because in this space, it's very easy to lose money, or even get scammed.

Yeah, you're right, all of these are not stuffs that would get you rich over night, but at least you get rewarded, and that's better than loosing money or not getting anything at all.

My major issue here is, I'm still trying to get a grasp of technical analysis and until I have sufficient knowledge I do not want to take crazy risks.

I mostly have to depend on the bull market so I can cash in on some of my assets and airdrops.

You can sell cryptocurrency short in many major exchanges.

So that's one way you can make money trading crypto in a downtrend.

Another approach is to make money on crypto not on the actual crypto valuation, but in terms of transactions.

Let me explain.

Crypto is largely unregulated, so centralized exchanges are regulated in certain parts of the world and not others.

So they're not joined at the hip.

They're not all centralized.

They all cater to different regions, different markets, and possibly even different demographics.

Given this difference, there are some small, slight variations in the price of crypto among these centralized exchanges.

It is possible to buy crypto low at one centralized exchange and instantly unload it at another exchange, but you need software to do this form of arbitrage.

It's all about buying low and selling high in the blink of an eye.

Individual investors do this, but you need to have the infrastructure and you're really taking a risk because sometimes there is slippage and you end up with an unfavorable price where your profit basically evaporates after you take out all the fees.

The alternative is to use centralized crypto arbitrage platforms that do this for you and centralize all these functions for you.

The downside?

This is less risky because you're not really betting on the long-term or midterm prospects of crypto.

Instead, you're basically just sniping the slight differences in value fluctuation between buying and selling crypto in transactions.

There's a 70% ceiling for profit.

This is definitely for people who are risk averse and who don't want to play the meme coin crypto casino.

But in fact, it's so much safer that a lot of these platforms would only charge you a fee if you make money.

So keep this in mind. It's not for everyone because usually, people who get into crypto are looking for moonshots.

The money that they plow into crypto is money that they can afford to lose.

They're looking for high risk and high reward.

But I just want to throw you an alternative that I know out there because it enables you to generate a profit regardless of whether the crypto market is going up or down because the focus is on the value fluctuations in the transaction itself.

In a sideway market people are also making money via even splitted buy and sell orders in the price range of the coin.Each time the price moves they make a profit no matter in which direction

Depends on your goals, what you want to get out of it.

I usually do memecoin trading as I developed an auto sniper for this and with the good strategy, it is profitable and. Do not think an auto sniper will be a money machine because it's not, it will make a good buck if you have a good strategy.

I would focus on long term investments or swing trading, this is the easiest and a strategy I have used as a beginner in the past, crypto often has -20% to -50% fluctuations once every few months and you can profit hard off that, I'll give an example, almost everything you would have bought on 5 August would be up by 30% by now. If you don't want to keep an eye of them so often, long term investments are the best, the more patience, the more profit.

Launchpools on CEX, this is usually a "side job" you get in when you have certain investments or stablecoin laying around, you get a decent APR for a few days, let's say for every $1000 you'll get 20$ in 7 days, it's not much but you only have to click a button.

Airdrops are still profitable, but have become harder than ever as most of the people got the hang of them and are entering every time. In my opinion, if you farm an airdrop it's best to sell the tokens before launch as you'll probably get the best price.

This is well put togetther. And I agree it's a lot saturated than it used to be, and selling when it lists might be the way to go.

I usually hold some of them though just in case.

I found someone talking about this on reddit some time ago, but I didn't think it was feasible. But from what you've put here it seems it's just a bout getting the right setup and being able to stomach the risk.
