Anyone have ideas how to optimize the home page for e-commerce websites?

Currently my website on the home page talks about the brand and shows some products but I wonder if it should also talk more about the types of products we carry or compel people to go to the blog?

I'm trying to do it in a way to increase conversions. Is it good to show recent blog posts on the bottom of the page? Would that actually help or hinder people looking to buy products on a website?

Amazon and other big sites don't seem to show blog posts on their home page but the rules might be different for sites that big.

Thanks

For good rankings you should have unique content on your homepage. You can write some about us info, brand descriptions, blog post excerpts, etc.

What's your niche OP?

It's hard to tell what you could optimize since your description isn't really detailed.

Now on the home page it mentions the types of products we carry and also about us, and links to our about us page. I wonder if linking to our educational blog might help increase users time on the site and maybe show importance to that page to Google.

Security/office/nightclub kinds of products. We do both educational and news blogging content and the main site which is ecommerce/sells products.

seo has always scared me, it's very easy for people to rip you off and if you dont know what you are doing you can waste allot of cash (i saw a guy waste $10,000 on seo made me cringe a little)

Make 2 different section in home page.
1 section: Product Listing.
2 sevtion: your blog post.
you can also make another section for your brands detail or about.

Thanks. I updated it to show blog snippets under product collections. Will see how users respond to that.

Yes, interlinking will help, too. Especially if you have useful info for users on your blog.

When I created one of my websites, I put a long text describing what the we site was about. This text is optimized for the main keywords. But as you should probably imagine, this homepage was not very appealing. The visitors would like to see latest blog posts, latest products, etc... Some dynamic content.

So the second step was to put the text after all the interesting information in order to keep the SEO benefits and not to bother the visitors. Of course, the homepage lost some places in the rankings after that move.

Finally, I have put the text back at the top of the page, but in a collapsible DIV with a clickable link saying "description" or "about us" for example. In this way the optimized text is at the top of the page, just after the optimized H1 element, spiders see it first, visitors are not bothered. Rankings were better but not as good as when the text was clearly visible.

Optimize the home page for ALL LSI keywords! FB iframe as well as social profiles associated to the store is the must! Try to link products that have LSI in the URL.
