Yeah - but.

As a primer it's sort of OK. OTOH it does carry messages - like use this hosting company, click on my forum...

The basic problem for most noobs is that they don't know what questions to ask, so telling them to search the net for free information is a bit telling someone to perform brain surgery without defining brain or surgery.

There are lots more noobs at the moment because of 'credit crunch' and loads of people are looking to make money on the side. 99% have heard the phrase 'Internet Marketing' and don't have a clue what it means - basically because it covers such a wide range of activity. So, by all means make this a sticky but add a health warning that it's VERY basic and it's only useful as a jump off point.

To answer the second point - noobs flail about looking for info - Google throws up stuff in this forum for all sorts of IM information, so they land here and take one look at the free ebooks and it's heaven with the gates shut!:)
Being a fresh noob myself I completly agree with what you say. I read a lot of threads were people get harrassed for asking what some may consider a 'stupid' question, when they where looking for serious help. Others, like you said, are just pointed toward google to fend for themselves achieving no progress at all. And your right, I really do not know yet where to start, and thats while you will find me in threads like these looking for info that will hopefully give me knowledge before I ask an oh so dreaded 'stupid' question.

Thanks for this, I like posts that say something true about making money online, because I'm starting to see more and more post like: it's easy to make some cash you just have to do:XYZ. I personaly don't think that doing XYZ will bring you any profit, but I think that by doing the ABC you have in mind you have a better chance to obtain something. :)

This was a very good thread for people...one thing that a lot of people realize when they jump online and try to make money is that they usually already have some sort of asset to bring into the table. For example someone that has worked a specific job before jumping online to try and make money, they could use that expertise that they developed when they worked that job for all those years and offer some sort of value in the market place. People want something that is sufficient and useful to them, thats all they care about. As a person trying to make money, we need to be the solution to their problem....not a pest trying to make a quick buck. Utilize our experience that you've developed in life and if you don't think you have enough adequate experience, then start growing more knowledge in a topic and gain enough of it to offer something valuable!

Off topic a bit.....One thing i hate about the changing time of web development is that the days of genuine web designers are gone.....Now that there are CMS's like Wordpress and joomla and others, which come with lots of templates, everyone that builds a site with those, call their selves web developers. I bet most dont know how to write a basic html page or php script. Also alot of sites look the same way

lucky for me I have already created hand coded three html sites in high school haha. but I really have to agree. the number of qaulified web designers are fading fast, i believe because it takes work like everything else. everyone hops on the wordpress and joomla bandwagon and freelances themselves as designers. now i'm not saying wordpress and joomla suck, because they are life savers and you can make good money this way. it's just that choosing a wordpress theme and clicking to install and changing text and graphics doesn't really qualify you for web design.

but back to the post, this is some really solid info for noobs like me. this is pretty much one of the best inspirational messages i have come across in all of the forums i've been on.

thanks man.
