How to make money in web design / design?

99.9% my sales come from Instagram my Dribbble is inactive but there is lots of money to be made on Dribbble my inactive profile would get 3 inquires a week about work and their high paying clients avoid freelance sites it’s all cheap people wanting $20 designs when you can easily charge hundreds to thousands if your a good designer.
Then show me Instagram profile on PM, i want to see how it works and maybe learn from it

Maybe to build a portfolio if OP doesn’t have one but I learned a long time ago with design work that usually free clients don’t turn into paying ones and it just devalues yourself in the long term, however if op doesn’t have a portfolio then why not try it since there is nothing to lose
that would give away my niche which to be honest I do not want to do on this forum sorry haha, that being said it’s not all that complicated if your offering a UI design service why not pay to get on to some of the large UI showcase pages many of them charge $10-$15 a post and have hundreds of thousands of followers. With a budget of $500 I’d for sure try this this will help grow your page. Use relevant hashtags that clients would look for #uidesign #uxdesigner etc. it’s gonna be slow in the beginning man but if you do good work clients will refer people and this is how the money starts flowing in. Be sure to niche down further than being a web designer be a business that offers web design to e-commerce stores for example maybe.

If you're not sure about what angle to take to make some cash, then while you figure it out I'm sure there is lots of demand for Front end devs, you could just get a full time job while you work out what it is you want to/figure it out. Bonus, you'll probably get to hone your skills on some real world problems which will only help when you decide how you want to try to make your own money.

This is great advice look into agencies that are hiring many won’t care too much about your educational background they’ll just care if the design work is good and you can make good money while growing a client base on the side. My first year on my own I made $5K I make good money now but $5K would not have been enough to sustain myself had I not been living in my parents basement. I got offered 2 agency jobs during this time just from them seeing my posts on Dribbble.

OP, you might want to approach other service providers like content writers, SEO companies, social media marketing companies, and SM Influencers.
Ask that they 'recommend' your service to their clients. You then pay a referral fee.

If you are having trouble getting first order on these sites, you will have to buy some reviews. Then you will get more orders.

I don’t do any development strictly design work I do more branding than UI work so a developer isn’t needed.

Use multiple platforms (Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, Legiit). Upwork now requires payment to submit proposals, so be careful. Fiverr has a PRO option, but they are very selective - but try to get in anyway.
