How to make link look better?

Hello,

when i send people my link for clickbank it obviously looks very unprofessional and dodgy...

is there a way i can make it look nicer? is this cloaking?

There are a number of ways to do this, one free way would be to use tiny url (google search that one) or bit.ly these sites will ask you to enter in your affiliate link and then it will spit out a shorter URL for you to use.

Another free way is to simply put anchor text along with your affiliate link. By this i mean, on a social site like myspace for instance, you can make your affiliate link into a hyperlink then you can make some anchor text which is a keyword related to your product but you can click on it rather than the long affiliate link.

So set up a hyperlink like this <a href="www.youraffiliatelink.com> KEYWORD HERE </ a>

That will show your keyword and when clicked it will take them to your affiliate link.

Some paid ways would be to own hosting and a domain and then simply redirect your domain name to your affiliate link or frame the affiliate sales page and use an iframe on your domain name.

This is a method I used before I started using on my sites.
I still use it in emails cause it's simple and free.

1.) Create a folder on your desktop.
Name it go or recommends or uses. Whatever you want.

2.) Inside the folder create a text file with the name of the product or something you like.

3.) Open the text file and enter the following code:


Save the file

4.) Alter the extension of the text file from txt to php

5.) Upload this to your server to the root directory of your blog or site

Now the link you use in your content looks like this:

http://yourdomain.com/recommends/yourproduct.php

To test if everything is working click on the link.
You should land on the merchants site.
Order the product (not really buy it of course ) so you get to the
Clickbank payment page.
This is the page from where you are redirected to PayPal or similar.

At the bottom of this page you should see in small print "affiliate=your Clickbank name"

I was trying to implement this yesterday but continue to get 404 errors when I click my link. Any thoughts as to why/what I'm doing wrong?

Replace the link inside the php code with a link to one of your other sites or to Google to see if you have the code and the link right.

If that works check the Clickbanklink by putting it in your addressbar and going to the merchant from there.

I just ran a quick test with this to be sure I didn't mistyped somewhere and it works.

I'm using WP 2.7

what link should I be putting into my blog post? Right now (using your test example) my link would look like this:

I must be missing something simple...

Just want to follow up and say what a great guy Blackhit is.

He voluntarily took the time to help me solve my problem via pm.

It was a really stupid mistake on my part (I had the "recommends" folder spelled with a capitalized "R"). In the process he showed much more patience than anyone could ever expect.

Buy a domain and set up a html redirect. Then you can have it look like whatever you want
