Post new content everyday on your blog. Use high ranking keywords. You can permote your blog by social bookmarking.

Before you go straight to the "monetization" aspect of blogging, you need to ask yourself first. For how long do you intend to keep your blog? For now, it may be part-time but once you get enough traffic, you'll definitely need to re-assess your goals. I suggest that if you really want to make serious money from your blog, use a self-hosted blog such as WordPress. As for the monetization part, you can start by applying for an AdSense account. You can also become an Amazon Affiliate. Aside from these two methods, you can also make use of Chitika, Commission Junction, NRelate, Disqus, ClickBank, etc.

... target aprox 200 visitors/day as your first small mission. Once you reach it - repost this question here and you will start getting first money in...

making money from blogging is hard work but it can be done.
you should first start looking at how to get traffic that read your content and share it
offer them a bait like a free report for their emails so you can mail them periodically to have repeat visitors.
its obvious that you need to work on your blog seo to get traffic from search engines but that can take a while meanwhile you can work on a social media strategy that involves youtube+twitter+facebook, with this networks you can see immediate results that will give you motivation and keep you going
