Use oscommerce, but patch it constantly, nothing has more vulnerabilities than it.

Since we are talking about online stores here, i'm trying to build a store that would sell cd keys, do any of these stores (free or not) support some sort of stock regarding digital goods (one for each customer) ? Stock itself for physical items is really just a number, but in this case, each value in stock would corresponde to a given code (jpg or txt or whatever).

    Thanks.

I prefer Prestashop. It is free and it is very flexible and effective e-commerce system and Prestashop is quicker than Magento.

Majentois a way not user friendly and buggy as hell....newer liked it....if you look for interesting news in this area try Jigoshop. It's like wp plug in and works fine for me.

Magento has loads of features out of the box but is very server hungry because it so bloated. I tend to avoid it for that reason - go for something like Prestashop, OpenCart (which looks the most modern and has the cheapest of the paid extensions) Oscommerce is not supported any more - I believe ZenCart is it's newest incarnation.
