Here is a basic guide that I always check for my squeeze pages.
This ain't no rocket science and you should test on your own.
1. Headings - 30-36 pt, ARIAL
2. Hand draw elements - this is supposed to increase the conversion up to 30%
3. Short Sentences and Clear Offer. Here I just go with the guts. "If I am the customer, would I understand what's this about in a few seconds? Would I want it?"
4. Correct English. This is self-explanatory.
5. No ecovers. Some tests (done by others) shows a better conversion up to 30-40%.
6. Arrows. A static arrow can improve your sells copy up to 40%.
7. Single opt-in. This is where bulk is main focus. This gets even 50% better conversion.
I'm no guru, this are things that I've put together from a few sources.
I encourage you to share your own guidelines.
