too long of a post for me to read. but to all wanting to make money. good wishes to all of you
@splishsplash Man I appreciate the support you are providing here. that's just not what everyone can (possibly) do
I wish you help me in this case at least in a short answer as I don't want to bother you but need this 'cause I'm so confused
I'm currently on two journeys
1- youtube journey (working for someone else) doing this for 2 month
2- developing mobile games (still learning) doing this for about 6 month
and I love both of them. I already lost 7 years in IM because of this shiny object syndrome and am in a stage where I will invest 1-2+ years on my journey as I know money won't come to you easily
Do you think If I can run both of this journeys together? if I invest 2 years on them both
I'm scared 'cause I may give up on them both if I feel tired on one of them... and I'm also scared if one of them doesn't work at all...
I got my answer man I wish I someday have an ego as big as yoursIt really just all comes down to 1 thing. I will try to give people reading a bit of insight to try and move their mindset.
I'm a big fan of simplifying life. Make life easy.
Why do you think people can spend 15 hours a day playing WoW? Every day, for years..
Because they love it.
No one starts WoW and thinks "Oh man, I have to grind for 2 years to build up a top level character with full raiding gear. Uh. What if I fail? What will I do!
But this is what happens with business. Because people are getting into it for all the wrong reasons. Money will NOT make you happy. It absolutely will not. People do not believe this though.
Money will amplify your current life. If you're unhappy it'll amplify the unhappiness. It'll make you realize that, even with all this money, you're still unhappy and there's nothing left.
What is it about a ferrari and a big house that will make someone happy? More space, more rooms in a house? Great. A shiny machine that will go fast? Great. What will you do when you have $100 million? Drive endless fast cars? Walk around your massive house? Fly around on a private jet? Sit on a beach? Hang out with people that only want your money?
Happiness comes from fulfillment. Nothing else. That might come from a good wife, your kids, reading a book. Fulfillment. Achieving something you set out to do. Not objects.
Now, understanding this, it makes no sense to start a business with the aim of making money. This is not what successful people do. Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest men in history was not driven by money. He FOCUSED on money because he needed money to achieve his vision. I absolutely guarantee he never at any point in his life sat down and thought "Oh I'll be more happy if I had more money".
He was driven by creation. By building. By the power of amassing wealth to create.
If someone's goal is to do that, they don't worry about failure, or worry about giving up. These fears arise because you feel lack just now, you feel unhappy, and you think that if you can make money, your life will be better. Andrew Carnegie was already in that final place when he started. That final place is that of someone creating. The money only came and allowed him to create more.
The reason most people fail is because they are in business for completely the wrong reasons, and will not be able to go through the hard times.
When I wake up in the morning I feel excited about my business the same way I would feel excited about a game. I get pleasure from my work every day, so I don't really care that much about success or failure, because I am having fun. I enjoy interacting with my clients. I enjoy adding orders to monday.com, updating them, checking on the spreadsheets, interacting with my staff, writing tools to make my business more efficient, bidding on new domains, working through data and doing checks, updating spreadsheets, setting up email campaigns, re-writing a sales page, setting up tracking for new banner advertising campaigns, doing case studies, responding to threads on bhw and sharing information. This for me is all fun. Making money only lets me do more of it and on a bigger scale.
I wouldn't enjoy having 1 website and writing 5k words per day. This would be hell, so why would I do it? To eventually make money and be happier in the future? No thanks.
I wouldn't enjoy running 50 affiliate websites, doing SEO for them all and having a team manage them. I like to work with clients, advertising, tracking, data.
I wouldn't enjoy being a full time youtuber making and editing videos all day.
You *must* pick something you enjoy. Some people love writing content all day. Some people love making and editing videos.
Now, if you really love both your journeys, you shouldn't feel any fear about giving up on them. You definitely won't get tired. No one ever gets tired of playing WoW all day and gives up. They only stop because they want to achieve more in life or they have to do something else.
All you need to achieve any sort of success in life is 1) Choose something you look forward to doing when you wake up in the morning and 2) Have a clean diet, avoid too much sugar/alcohol/caffeine/dopamine crap so you can focus.
Business isn't for everyone. This is the biggest mistake people make. If you love developing mobile games, then instead of trying to run your own business, why not work for someone? You can make more than enough money in life working for others. Find an interesting startup, get some shares and create some amazing stuff. You'll be far far happier.
It really just all comes down to 1 thing. I will try to give people reading a bit of insight to try and move their mindset.

@splishsplash
I've been lurking BHW for a while, found your profile and have spent a couple of days reading through your threads and it's been incredibly enlightening and inspirational for me. Thanks very much for all the free absolutely gold info-it's majorly appreciated.
My problem is definitely analysis paralysis. I've taken some action on business ventures but always end up analysing things too deeply and end up not getting anywhere. There's a lot of different categories and I'm having difficulty picking one to get started with properly. My idea, from reading a legendary 7878 thread, is to get into online reputation management for offline businesses. Do you think this is a worthwhile starting point?
Yes, I think your thoughts on selling and building something real really apply here to this model-From real world experience and reading its my experience that emotions and especially fear is a big driving factor in actually closing clients. I have a few twists on the original method I'll try and certainly will take your advice on grinding at this exclusively. It's a very hard business, but it's as good as any to start with if you can get good at it.
