Put your own better twist on what he does and search relevant markets/forums/blogs associated to your niche to market to. Hit with as many links as possible on relevant high pr sites and if you think smart with your techniques I'm sure eventually you'll get the hang. Just don't be so overt about your selling. And the more people want your product, the less marketing you have to do overall.
