how to maintain ranking on google?

hi everyone i have a site in top 5 but these days the traffic reduced.
and i don't do many backlinks building when the site rank in top 5.
i don't know how to maintain the ranking
any ideas?

You can add some contents to your site and do some niche relevant high pr backlinks to your site but can't guarantee the same pos 4ever since google algm keeps changing often...

Dont stop posting new content. Show to g00gl3 that you are providing tips for your readers.

I can't advise you to continue builiding links (or at least I cant say HOW to build those links) since their algorithms keep changing so far. Some posts now and then never hurt though.

Just keep doing what you've been doing to maintain the ranking. Every now and then create a few new links and you should be good. Depending on the competition for the particular keyword, you can remain in the top 5 for quite a while without doing anything.

I have one site that is number 1 for its keyword and I haven't done any link building in more than 6 months.

Also the advice of adding new content is good, but not entirely necessary. It really depends on the website.

ahh that's a great idea i have many long tail keywords but they disappeared these days because i do nothing to my site.
so i think doing nothing may lead long tail keywords gone.

Try to make few backlinks with different keywords.And add some articles.

At this point (top 5 ranking), content management will be a good thing to do.

Identify a good list of high traffic site for blogging and article submission, web 2.0 and press release and put up a great content on a bad ass topic.

Distribute them to 10 to 20 sites unspun using your anchor.
Experience has shown that if you have the right content that people and webmaster needs, you will enjoy a high rate of content syndication with a link back to your site.

This often lands on high pr site and above all, it keep your link profile generic and safe from the preying eyes of Google.

Add lots of content to your site and make sure you include videos and pictures as well. Try to add a few links within the content that link out to other authority sites in your niche. Google seems to like when you appear to share the space on your site for free.
