It's bigvision again trying to contribute to the BHW community. I always assumed living this lifestyle that weight can creep up on you.

I know for a fact a lot of people here are obese or overweight. People have the idea that exercise is required to lose weight.

That is completely false, all that matters is how many calories you eat.

Today I'll be teaching you about CICO(calories in calories out) - it is simple science. If you eat more calories than you burn you gain weight. If you eat less calories than you burn you lose weight.

That is literally all to it and you could learn more about CICO on Reddit.com/r/loseit. I used to be a little overweight and brought myself down to healthy weight. Never went to the gym once and was on my ass all day.

Things you need to do is find your Basal metabolic rate. What that is how many calories you burn through the day by doing nothing. Literally just by living and functioning you're burning calories. Eat less calories than your BMR and you lose weight. It was a good rule of thumb to eat 500 calories less than your BMR.

The bad part of this method is it takes a lot of time to see results. Also, depending on your size you might not get enough calories to satisfy yourself. It works though because if it didn't than the laws of physics don't mean shit!

You'll need a scale to weight everything you eat and constantly be checking labels. Don't worry though you'll get used to it.

Just stop eating. By the way exercising very important , should doing every day.

1 stone = around 49,000 calories.

This is what you need to be in 'deficit' to lose this weight. This is why it takes time to see results.

Exercise will help you be in the deficit zone and it will also increase your metabolism rate.

If you're obese, you need to exercise along with eating properly in order to lose weight. It's basic science. The other issue is well is that for those that are obese, their heart is going to be in a shitty position. Exercise will help strengthen it.

Obese people are like bodybuilders when it comes to heart - it gets strained to support the extra body mass.

impossible to lose weight without the hart moving fast, and moving limbs.

so no it impossible to rely on this method and very dangerous.

always consult your doctor before any diet.

I was coming from from the angle that the exercise will reduce help lower BP and by association shear stress in the arteries. It would also lower the degradation of the arterial lining since the exercise can assist in removing reactive oxygen species which makes the endothelium a lot sticky and accelerating and worsening atherosclerosis. Who'd have thought that some of my undergraduate and post grad work would come up in BHW.

Slit your throat

Yiu will loose a lot of blood very quickly, and hence weight.

And then you'll be thin for the rest of your life! Which will be a few seconds.

...

Solid tip, @bigvision.

I have two things to add to this.

1) I used to do an IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) version of this. At one point I started going from a "eat whatever is in my calorie range" diet to more of a low-carb high-fat pseudo-Ketogenic diet. I still kept my calories the same, even a little higher, but I felt so much better and had a lot more energy.

2) The Bodybuilding.com and most other BMR calculators online use the Harris-Benedict formula for calculating BMR. While this works well in theory, there is a more targeted formula called the Mifflin St. Jeor formula:

,where s is +5 for males and −161 for females.

That is false. The OP is right. There is a set amount of calories, which preserves your weight (it varies by person), if you eat less calories, you'll loose weight. That's what is basic science. Exercising is not needed, although it speeds up the process and you'll see the results much sooner.
Just think about when someone gets into a hospital for a few weeks. He/she can't eat properly for whatever reason, you can be sure, that he/she will be a few kgs lighter when he/she gets out and not because he/she exercised there, but simply because there were a smaller calorie intake than his/her usual while lying all day in a bed, so with even less activity than usual.

I did loose weight with both lowering the calorie intake and lowering the calorie intake plus exercising. With the latter i lost 20 kgs in 2 months after i graduated from highschool. And after that a couple of times i lost a few kgs with the former technique. If you are not in a hurry and want to loose just a few kgs, exercising is definitely not needed. You can do that in a month just by eating less calories than what preserves your weight.

Here are ways to lose weight without diet or exercise:
  • chew thoroughly and slowdown
  • use smaller plates for unhealthy foods
  • eat plenty of protein
  • store unhealthy food out of sight
  • eat fiber rich food
  • drink water regularly
  • serve yourself smaller portions
  • eat without electronic distraction
  • sleep well and avoid stress
  • eliminate sugary drinks

Intermittent fasting - it's supposed to work wonders, there's a pair of knucklehaed twins on youtube who explain it.
