So I'm trying to do backlinking using articles etc.

Do I write some paragraphs talking about my niche using the keywords I want to rank for?
Also, does short, medium and long tail keywords affect seo in linkbuilding?

You have 3 questions, each requiring massive responses to properly explain. However, I'm going to try to summarize them all with one or two sentences, as I think all 3 questions can be answered by reading more around the forum.

1. How to link build? This entire section is made of threads and posts discussing link building.

2. Are you trying to write article for sites like EzineArticles then hyperlinking to your site? There's a lot of other types of links besides this.

Some people told me short,medium,long tail doesn't effect in linkbuilding?

do you mean anchor text? long tail keywords are usually 3+ words with low search volume and especially low competition.

Identify the best keywords for your sites. And make quality post or links that would attract visitors in your sites. Also make links in a White HAT way and do not do spamming techniques in getting backlinks for your sites. Just like this days Google always changes their algorithm and making the Google Searches on is bet result.

Do keyword research and build quality back links don't try software link building it may cause you problem always preferable is white hat
