How to Launch a Popular Facebook Application

Hi,

I recently launched a Facebook Application, and I'm really surprised it is not as viral as I thought.
The application is really nice looking and not full of ads, it publishes to open graph, prompts for publishing to the wall and offers incentive for inviting friends.


Can you still build a clean (not spammy) viral Facebook App ?
How do you drive trafic to it, and make users share the app to their friends ?

The best way I found for now is posting to groups with fake profiles, but I can only get few users with that technique...

That's actually what I tried but :
  • For Pages, it's almost invisible to fans...
  • For groups, it works only for few users and then the post disappears quickly
 
Posting to pages (even if big ones) is not effective, because posts don't appear to people who liked the page.

Have you consider "Why people would use your app" factor while you develop the app?
 
It's all about social engineering, dummy sites/apps grow faster
 
I think you should change your title in. How to launch a FB app and make it populair ;)

The way something goes viral fast depends what kind of niche it is..
