How to know if domain was previously deindexed or penalized?

Hi all,

I want to buy a domain name for my money site and I'm wondering how can I check if the domain had been previously deindexed or penalized (I've checked its history with Wayback machine, but I found only a few blank pages with Index of / and some Apache server references). Also, I checked the domain in Semrush and does not seem to have any backlinks. Reason is, I obviously do not want to buy a useless domain that won't index. What other methods do you recommend?

Advertise on BHW
Check for any backlinks in Ahrefs as well - Semrush index is pretty bad. If the domain doesn't have any backlinks then is highly unlikely to had penalty in the past, since anyone who do Blackhat shit would not just upload duplicate content without building single backlinks.. also check in screenshots.com

It looks like the domain name has 0 backlinks, and the results from screenshots.com are the same with those from web.archive.org. With all this information, is there any chance to find out if the domain is blacklisted?

Not before you register the domain and check the webmaster tools console..
 
If you have a Voodoo.com or ParkingCrew account, you can check the domain there and see if it is banned by G
