The first step is to see if any pages are indexed

Check the previous history with the waybackmachine. This shows whether the website is worth buying or not. And also check the domain backlink history with the tools like Ahrefs, SEMRush, etc. If it is toxic, then don't buy it.

I check if a domain is blacklisted by searching site:domain.com on google to see if it's indexed, using blacklist check tools like MXTToolBox, reviewing its history on wayback machine for spammy content, and checking backlink quality with tools like Ahrefs or majestic. If all looks clean, it's usually safe to buy.
