You need a group of people with strong knowledge on the subject first, then the newbies will join to make up the general population.

Hire a group of good VA's to use many different accounts and make posts, comments, ask questions and help it achieve some momentum. Once it's traveling on it's own steam, then discontinue.

    1. Find a handful list of tops sites related to your area of specialization and see if they allow ads. Place advert with them for a month and track where your traffic comes most from and repeat the process. It is important to have a good banner/content ads solving your target market needs.

    2. You can get in touch with sites related to your area of specialization that do not have forums and see if you can create a sub domain for them on your forum. This way they will be referring visitors to your site at no cost to you.

    3. There to include some kind of incentive, however, do not run this from your advertising budget but rather from the profit you make from your forum.

    4. Do not neglect SEO especially as you are starting newly.

    5. Focus on building an authority site, thou this will take a lot of work but consistency is the key.

Gather up friends, share good content, keep on updating your friends and adding new friend. That's all about forums and communities.

As stated above, you need experts. I tried to start a forum once and failed miserably. You must make sure you have something unique for them to come in and register for. It could be hints on something, secrets, or even strategies. Always keep them checking it and keep it updated. It's a complicated process for 1 person.
